Community Support

The Whitley Law Firm believes in giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Our programs are designed to help young members of our communities by fostering awareness and encouraging ongoing education in many different areas. Please contact Whitley Law Firm for more information on how to get involved with these programs:

The Kids Are Special Program

With the recent emergence of child abductions as a major social issue, it has become more important than ever to ensure that you have all relevant personal information immediately available about each of your children. That’s why we have developed the "Kids are Special" program.

This is a free public service that provides vital records for families that law enforcement can utilize if a child ever becomes lost or missing. The program originally offered fingerprinting and videotaping of children, although recently the program has advanced to provide computer-generated ID cards. The ID cards include important information about the child, including a photo, 2 profile photos, name, nickname, address, phone number, height, weight, eye color, hair color, birth date, and race. The parent’s names are also included on the card. The child’s fingerprints are electronically recorded and printed on the back of the ID card. The information on the ID card is kept in our confidential database and can be easily accessed in the event that larger or more detailed copies of the photos or fingerprints are needed, or if an ID card is lost and needs to be replaced.

The Kids are Special program takes place in public and private schools, daycare centers, fairs, festivals, churches and during special events at various malls throughout North Carolina. The Kids are Special program has been recognized as a positive step toward preventing crimes against children. The Whitley Law Firm has identified over 25,000 kids since the program started in 1997.

You have planned for your children’s future...now protect their future today. If you would like to host a Kids are Special event, or to find out when the next event is scheduled, please contact:
