Tips to Prevent Motorcycle Accidents

Anytime people are riding motorcycles, it is important that they practice general safety.  It is a well-known fact that when motorcyclists engage in safe riding behavior, they can reduce their chances of being involved in a motorcycle accident.  Below, Whitley Law Firm has provided several motorcycle safety tips:

§  When sharing the road with other motorists, always be respectful of their space.

§  Always wear protective riding gear.  This includes helmets, riding gloves, boots and glasses.

§  Never operate a motorcycle (or any vehicle for that matter) while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or prescription medications.

§  Follow the posted speed limits and maintain a speed that you are comfortable with while riding your cruiser, sports bike or motorcycle.

§  Be on the lookout for road hazards, like pot holes, they may cause an accident.

§  Make sure that other motorists can see you and avoid merging too quickly.

§  When turning, always use your turn signals so motorists know what you are planning to do.

§  Avoid riding your motorcycle in poor weather conditions as roads will be very slippery.

Even when motorcycle riders are practicing biker safety, they may still be involved in accidents if riding alongside negligent drivers.  When this happens, motorcyclists are encouraged to contact Whitley Law Firm and speak with a Raleigh personal injury attorney.
