The U.S. Department of Transportation says that approximately 500,000 truck accidents take place in the country every year.  Of those 500,000 accidents, nearly 5000 results in people being killed. 

One out of every eight traffic fatalities results from a truck accident.

The revenue related to truck accidents is expected to double by 2015.  In 2009, the revenue lost due to truck accidents was estimated at $615 billion. 

In collisions involving tractor trailer trucks, 98% of people who are killed are individuals in passenger vehicles.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 68% of all truck accidents that are fatal happen in rural regions.
