Two Separate Accidents Occured during Periods of Heavy Fog
According to the Associated Press, state police in Virginia have identified two people were victims in a series of wrecks on a foggy stretch of Interstate 77. This particular highway runs through southwest Virginia.
According to local law enforcement, 57-year-old Robert C. Wiest and 58-year-old Marvin D. Miller both died at the scene of their truck accidents due to injuries they sustained in separate collisions.
Police say that the tractor-trailer truck that was driven by Wiest struck another tractor-trailer that had been stopped. Miller's pickup truck was also hit by a tractor-trailer after it was involved in another crash.
Police say the accidents may have resulted from heavy fog in the Fancy Gap region where visibility has been reduced to zero. The auto accidents involve 75 motor vehicles and led to 16 people being injured.
