Two Women Suffer Injuries during Truck Accident

In Patrick County, it was reported that a car collided with a dump truck head-on during the morning hours.  After the truck accident, two local women had to be sent to the hospital for medical treatment.  According to police from the state of Virginia, 82-year-old Annie Simmons had pulled out of the parking lot just after 8:00 AM on Route 58 when the collision took place.

It is said that her car crossed the westbound lanes and was already merging into the east bound lanes when a dump truck driver who had been traveling west hit the brakes.  At the time of the crash, the truck was carrying 20 tons of gravel and skidded out of control into the east bound lanes before hitting the car head-on.

During the collision, two women were in the vehicle, Simmons and her passenger 86-year-old Jewel Knight.  Both remained trapped inside of the car until police arrived and were flown to the hospital.
