16 Year Old Charged with Death by a Motor Vehicle

This week, new sources say that charges had been filed against a teenage driver who was involved in an auto accident that led to the death of a 14-year-old boy.

According to Raleigh Police spokesman Jim Sughrue, charges have been filed against 16-year-old David Lawrence Asato.  The news was announced by Sughrue after he consulted with the Wake County's District Attorney's Office.  Sughrue says that Asato has been charged with death by a motor vehicle.

Reports indicate that the 16-year-old was the driver of the vehicle that hit a school bus in Wake County on September 27th.  Police say that the defendant was traveling 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.

The name of the 14-year-old that was killed is Jared Paul Williams.  Officers say Asato and a 15-year-old boy suffered injuries during the accident.  All three boys were students at Neuse Christian Academy.
