Three People Injured in NC Car Crash

It was reported in Hopewell, NC that a car veered off of the interstate and crashed onto a Hopewell city vehicle that was 70 feet below on a roadway. The car accident did not result in any deaths, but three people were injured in the crash. A Hopewell city employee was among those injured.
The crash occurred when Robert D McKernie, 22, lost control of his vehicle, went down an embankment and landed on the below street. His vehicle was then struck by the Hopewell city vehicle.
McKernie and his passenger, Alexander K Schwarga, suffered only minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The Hopewell city employee suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries and was airlifted to Virginia Commonwealth University. McKernie was charged with reckless driving for failure to maintain proper control of his vehicle.
Sgt. Thomas Molnar of the Virginia State Police commented that, "Speed is considered a factor in the crash." The car accident is currently under investigation.
