Police Identify Teenagers Involved in Bus Accident
In Raleigh, police identified the teenagers that were involved in a collision with a Wake County school bus on Monday afternoon. The names and ages of the teenagers were released on Tuesday.
14-year-old Jared Paul Williams was killed after the 2006 Kia he was riding in crashed into the back of the school bus on Neuse Road.
The driver, 16-year-old David Lawrence Asato and backseat passenger, 15-year-old Nolan Mayo Lundberg, were taken to WakeMed for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. On Tuesday, both were listed in fair condition.
Police say that all three teenagers were students at Neuse Christian Academy. At this time, charges are pending against Asato, but officers are still trying to determine what happened prior to the accident.
An accident report stated that the school bus was trying to make a left turn at around 4:00 PM when the northbound Kia hit its rear. Somehow, the Kia wound up under the bus and the sheer force of the collision forced the back of the bus into a nearby 1999 Honda.
