Three Die in Major Pickup Truck Accident
On Saturday morning, it is reported that three people died and another was hospitalized after a pickup truck overturned in Brunswick County. News about thetruck accident was made public by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
According to Trooper J.H. Shaw, the crash took place at 2:29 AM and occurred on Malmo Loop Road. He said that a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound when they ran off the road, crashed into some posts in a churchyard, overturned and rolled at least two times before coming to a full stop.
The driver of the vehicle, Michael Eric Johnson, and his two passengers, Aimee West Brown and Jennifer Wood Sessoms, were thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident.
A third passenger by the name of Randall James Sessoms was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was reported as being in stable condition. He was the only one wearing a seat belt in the vehicle.
At this time, the NCHP is still investigating the collision, but has said that alcohol and speed are believed to have played a role in the crash.
