Motorcycle Safety 101

Nearly two decades after the North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Education Program has been enacted, many motorcycle riders and enthusiasts are continuing to take classes and get educated on motorcycle safety.

Riding a motorcycle can be one of the most dangerous modes of transportation, and without proper training and information, you may fall victim to an accident that could have been prevented with adequate safety precautions.

The following are several tips that should always be followed when riding your motorcycle:

  • Always wear a helmet.
  • Wear protective clothing such as long sleeves and bright colors.
  • Wear goggles or other protective eyewear.
  • Wear gloves and closed toed shoes.
  • Do not speed, text while riding, or ride your motorcycle drunk.
  • Obey all traffic laws.

While not all accidents involving a motorcycle rider are caused by the rider, there are many different precautions an individual can take before getting onto their bike.

With these safety steps in mind, enjoy riding your motorcycle safely in the beautiful summer weather.
