Nine Hospitalized, Man Charged with DWI After Causing Wreck on Hwy 220
On Guilford County's Highway 220, a man has been charged with DWI after eight individuals are sent to the hospital for minor and life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred when a 27-year-old man's vehicle collided with another SUV, causing the SUV to roll several times before coming to a stop. While all individuals in the SUV were said to have proper restraints, one was ejected from the vehicle, suffering
catastrophic injuries. She was listed in critical condition at a nearby hospital as of 5 pm on Sunday.
In the SUV, four of the passengers were under the age of 10, and the other four were adults. The alleged drunk driver was also taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries, in addition to being charged with DWI, careless and reckless driving, and felony hit and run, according to police reports.
