For the 2010-11 Toyota Corolla and the 2011-12 Toyota Sienna, manufacturers have issued a recall due to several serious automotive defects.
Both vehicles appear to suffer from the same or similar problems, including a problem with the A-pillar trim panel, an area at the front of the vehicle's interior. The problem with the A-pillar notes that it can cause additional problems during a crash.
On the Sienna in particular, the vehicle is said to have problems with its alleged load capacity, which can lead to tire failure.
The manufacturer has noted that this recall applies specifically to Toyota distributers in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has stated that 518 of the vehicles that were purchased also had additional entertainment, navigation or other Bluetooth or hands-free devises installed. During this installment, the A-pillar clip may have been damaged, which can cause the trim panel to come loose during a car accident and cause additional
injury to occupants.
A report notes that Toyota will be notifying these vehicle owners this month and replacing any damaged A-pillar clips at no cost.
