Pedestrian Suffers Serious Leg Injuries
In Connecticut, it has been reported that an area of Route 63 had to be closed on Thursday morning after a teenage driver struck a woman who was unloading cars from a transport truck. Police say that the accident occurred outside of J&M Autobody.
Following the pedestrian accident, the woman had to be transported to an area hospital because she suffered serious leg injuries. Officers say she was listed in critical condition, but the teenage driver received medical treatment at the scene of the accident. Police have reason to believe that somewhere may have contributed to the crash.
Lt. Harrison told reporters, "We've had sun glare issues here in the past, this is a major thoroughfare, lots of cars pass through here without any problem. We're going to have to look at all the evidence to see if there are any other factors."
The driver was later identified as Ronald Jennings and the injured pedestrian was identified as Sarifa Sara-Sanchez. At this time, no charges have been filed against 16-year-old Jennings.
