After three people were airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital and others taken by ambulance to Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, the state wants to hold someone responsible for the car accident.
In a sudden moment, 20-year-old driver Cameron Ray looked down at his iPod – only to look up and find that he was about to collide head on with a pick-up truck coming the other direction.
Troopers say that the distracted driver and one of his passengers were airlifted, in addition to the other driver's wife. The other passenger in Ray's vehicle, the driver of the pick-up and two of his passengers were taken to Carolina East Medical Center.
The pick-up was towing a 24-foot trailer and a boat during the accident. Cameron Ray faces charges of driving left of center.
