Two Young N.C. Men Involved in a Fatal Boating Accident
Just over one short week ago, the brothers from the tight knit community of Kernersville, North Carolina were enjoying their summer on a lake in Nebraska. While on a tube pulled by a boat, another boat approached theirs and did not stop.
Young Joshua Rowley, 12, died at the lake from injuries sustained in the accident, while Matthew McAlexander, a volunteer firefighter at Piney Grove Fire Department, was listed in critical condition at a hospital in Kearney for several days.
The family experienced yet another tragedy when McAlexander lost his life in the hospital at 19 years of age. Both bodies will be transported to the funeral home in their hometown.
The driver of the pontoon boat that hit the boys was immediately taken into custody on suspicion of boating while intoxicated and given a full sobriety test.
Officers are still waiting on the results of blood tests to determine if alcohol was a factor in the tragic boating accident.
