Teenager Killed in Bike Accident in Monroe
Tragedy struck in Monroe when a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a bicycle accident.
Investigators with the Monroe police department are still looking into the accident that killed Blake Carlton. Initial reports show that Carlton was riding his bike on Highway 74 when he was hit by a car. He was attempting to cross the street to visit his father at the Sprint store, and was almost there, when the truck hit him.
Although he was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center, he died the next morning. At this time officers with the Monroe police department are still questioning eyewitnesses to the pedestrian accident. Master Sgt. William Reid, Carlton's ROTC teacher, commented that "No parent should ever have to see their kid go before them. The only thing I can think about right now is how his parents are."
