78 Year Old Hit While Crossing Street

This week, it was reported by local news sources that a 78-year-old woman was struck by a motor vehicle while she was crossing the street at approximately 10:00 PM on Sunday evening. News sources say that the accident took place on the 300 block of North Carolina in central El Paso.

Police told reporters that the 78-year-old wasn't using the crosswalk to get across the street when she was unexpectedly hit by a 1993 Buick. Police say that the driver of the vehicle was 57-year-old Faustino Macias.

Allegedly, he tried to avoid the pedestrian, but she was still hit by the right side mirror of his vehicle and then knocked over. Following the pedestrian accident, the woman had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment of a possible fractured pelvis and skull.

At this time, police have no reason to believe that speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
