Two Die Following Tractor Trailer Accident
After a tractor-trailer and pickup truck collided just outside of Charlotte two people died and three more were hospitalized for their injuries.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol the tractor-trailer was parked on the side of the road when a pickup truck filled with five men veered under the tractor. The three injured persons were transported by Medic, Mecklenburg County's paramedic service, to Carolina Medical Center with serious injuries.
The accident happened near Charlotte Douglas International Airport around 1:30 p.m. This caused traffic to backup on northbound I-85 as well as a ramp from I-85 to I-485. Authorities attempted to direct motorists to alternate routes while the accident was cleared up.
