Restaurant Owner Killed during Truck Accident

The owner of a tea room in Kings Mountain was struck and killed in Gaston County, leaving a community mourning for her loss.

Reports issued by the North Carolina Highway Patrol show that Mary 'Alice' Armstrong, 74, was about to cross the road by her house when she was struck by a pickup truck. The driver, 56-year-old George Burgess, told officers that he saw Armstrong at the edge of her driveway, and even saw her look his way. However, he was shocked when she continued into the street and then crouched into a fetal position just seconds before he struck her.

At this time Burgess has not been charged with anything, as officers do not believe the truck accident to have been his fault.

Armstrong leaves behind three sons, two of whom are ordained ministers. She ran the popular Cup & Saucer Tea Room in a restored historic home.

If you have been in a truck accident, now is the time to contact our law firm and get advice from a Raleigh personal injury lawyer.
