Two Fatal Pedestrian Accidents Reported
Officers in St. Johns County are responsible for two fatal pedestrian accidents.
One of the victims, 57-year-old Jeffrey Coombs when a Jacksonville cruiser struck and killed him while attempted to cross Interstate 95. Coombs had been driving on the interstate when his car crossed over the center median for an unknown reason. He got out of his vehicle and headed towards Race Track Road when the deputy's car hit him. He was transported to Baptist South Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Florida Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the accident, and no charges have been filed at this time.
