Fire Chief Killed in 18 Wheeler Truck Accident
On Sunday, Robeson County's Evans Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Sam Butler, 52, was fatally injured in an accident on I-74. Chief Butler was traveling eastbound when he received an emergency call and made a U-turn. Simultaneously, a tractor trailer collided with his vehicle. The fire chief was not wearing a seatbelt, and investigators believe that he was killed upon impact. The driver of the semi-truck was reported to be uninjured and will not be facing criminal charges after the accident.
